Stackz is a flashcard organizer. It has many special features to learn Japanese vocabulary, but it also works perfectly to learn vocabulary of any other language, or any other type of information.
The Stackz visualization concept makes it easy to keep the overview over the items to be learnt, even if there are several thousands of them. To achieve this goal, the words are classified according to two fundamental attributes: The proficiency level (known/unknown), and the refresh state (fresh/old). The state of an item is directly visible with the intuitive graphial display system, and the resulting action to be taken is immediate - unknown cards must be learnt, cards whose color turned old must be refreshed. The Japanese IME is used to enter kanji on all supported versions of western windows. An advanced interface to both Jim Breen's EDICT and KANJIDIC files allows to browse kanji information and kanji compounds.
