Splinex VoxelArt utilizes voxels to model solid objects. It enables objects to be painted in 3D space, then translated, rotated, and sectioned at cursor speed. A voxel is the 3D analog of the 2D picture element, or pixel. Voxels can be assigned colors and lighting characteristics and can be used to represent virtually anything, from human skulls to complete, virtual, 3D worlds.
A key determinant of modeling accuracy is voxel density. Like in a bitmapped image, the more voxels in a given volume, the higher the resolution of the model. Though higher-resolution models consume more memory, the objects they represent appear smoother and more precise. Splinex VoxelArt is especially useful for storyboarding and streamlining animation work flow by simplifying the previsualization and rapid prototyping of objects and characters.
