ServerSentry is a utility for monitoring Windows services and processes. It can be configured to send out e-mail alerts to multiple recipients when specific services or processes start up and/or shut down. ServerSentry will also record whether shutdown occurred in a controlled manner or as a result of a failure. Alerts include information about the state of the service or process at shutdown-time that can be used to diagnose problems. ServerSentry can also be configured to e-mail administrators when Windows boots up or shuts down. ServerSentry can also be configured to record events to the Windows Event Log, so that administrators are able to easily review process and service activity. ServerSentry operates as a Windows service, and does not require a user to be logged-in in order to function. It consumes minimal memory and CPU resources.
