Give your Vinyl Records a rest. RIP Vinyl is a direct to disk recorder that allows you to record from any audio source on your sound card, and produce WAV or MP3 files, which can then be burned onto a CD-R for your own personal use while away from home. The software automatically detects tracks using parameters you configure, and can record a 78 on a 45 RPM player. In addition, it automatically discards tracks shorter than a threshold.
The software can compress to disk while recording. Compression is done via Microsoft's Audio Compression Manager (MSACM) and can use any ACM codec that is licensed for encoding. The software supports a peak VU meter, and the main UI and installation has been translated into Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Swedish.
Version 3.1 now allows you to choose the input source, and adjust the volume from the main user interface, and includes context sensitve help by right clicking on the various parts of the program.
