PowerTerm Pro supports a full line of emulation types, including IBM, Digital, Wyse, Data General, and SCO. It facilitates connection to applications running on a variety of hosts (including IBM AS/400, IBM mainframe, Digital, and Unix) over a network, the Internet, a modem, or direct serial links from any PC. PowerTerm Pro provides the convenience of full Web-browsing compatibility from within the PowerTerm Pro GUI. Other features include context-sensitive help, customizable and dockable menu bar and toolbars, multisheet copy/paste/print, and an editor.

In version 8.8.1, connection to a TN5250 host (AS/400) over a gateway/firewall (VT100 input) is now available. Control characters can also be entered by typing in their ASCII number (fewer than three digits). The program also remembers the Caps Lock state when you return to a session, even if you changed it in another program or session.
