NetSender is a nice interface for the net send command. The software allows you to easily send messages to virtually any computer on the network. The Windows messenger service is required to be running to receive messages. Once installed, the software has the option to enable this service locally. The program can net send a message to a user or you can choose to save the users information in a data file for later access.
