Detagger is a dual-purpose Windows utility that can convert HTML files into good-looking text, or selectively remove HTML markup. As a markup remover, you can tidy up your HTML in a number of ways. Simply select the types of tags to be removed or tag manipulations you want performed (e.g., remove tags added by MS Office, remove font tags, or convert tags to lowercase). As an HTML-to-text converter, you can convert HTML newsletters into a more compact and e-mail-friendly format. Your document is converted to text, preserving the headings, lists, and tables of the original.
Hyperlinks can be replaced by the display value plus an entry in a reference table added at the end of a document. There are many formatting options which may be saved in options files for later reuse. Detagger supports wildcards and drag-and-drop operation, and a console version is well-suited to batch conversions. An API version is available under separate license.
